The Arecibo Observatory Space Academy is an intense 18 week program with 10 on-site research days for highly qualified pre-college students in Puerto Rico. Selected students work as a team along field professionals in the development of a research project related to Space Exploration. During the program, students develop their skills in mathematics, scientific research, teamwork, and English as a Second Language, while polishing their understanding of the Scientific Method. During the course of the program, students record their data and share their knowledge with their peers.
Students meet Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the Arecibo Observatory. However, the workload expands to their school, home, and communities.
Please note that we will temporarily not be operating during the Fall 2017 semester. Please come back for up to date news on the application process for the Spring 2018 semester. Thank you!
